Signing the next big thing from Portugal can be a tricky business. You might end up with Cristiano Ronaldo, you’ll probably end up with either another Renato Sanches or Hélder Postiga. Still though, sometimes it’s worth rolling the dice, and when you’re Ed ‘Snake Eyes’ Woodward, there’s no messing about. Bruno Fernandes, who spent years in Italy at Udinese and Sampdoria doing nothing more than OK, has been doing rather better recently at Sporting Lisbon, leading some media outlets to report that United will drop a combined £150m for the 24-year-old as well as Benfica’s young scamp, João Félix.
Daniel Levy has sold enough craft beer to make sure that Mauricio Pochettino has some coin for this summer (and that he doesn’t have to start Victor Wanyama in a Champions League semi-final) with André Gomes, currently on loan at Everton from Barcelona, top of his shopping list. Nice’s young full-back, Youcef Atal, is also on the radar but would cost up to £34m - a price that Chelsea would also consider, if their transfer ban is overturned.

Not that Juve need another central midfielder, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has said that it is his preference to sell Tanguy Ndombele to the Turin side. “Honestly, I would like to see Ndombele at Juventus with Miralem Pjanic, a player that broke out at Lyon and a player I am still very attached to,” Aulas told Tuttosport. “In the sale of a player, if offers are equal, I would offer him to Andrea Agnelli. Round-up of Irons comings and goings this summer
Adrian appears to set to leave West Ham in the summer with no signs of a new contract.
It is most likely that the Hammers will look for a 12-month option of a free transfer, loan or cheap deal in between the sticks as cover for Fabianski while Nathan Trott goes out on loan to a Championship club to prepare him for the Premier League in the following season.
At the back Pablo Zabaleta has signed a 12-month extension contract today whilst Winston Reid will get a chance to prove himself during pre-season before Pellegrini makes a decision who stays and goes.
As previously reported Augsburg has an option to make their loan of Reece Oxford permanent for £3.4m but this has yet to be activated. He has no future at West Ham under Pellegrini.
Two names linked as reinforcements in defence are Chilian centre half Guillermo Maripan, who has starred for Alaves in La Liga this season.
The other is Greek left back Leonardo Koutris who plays for Olympiakos. Both are valued around £10m each.
In midfield, Samir Nasri time at West Ham appears to be running out and he has less than a 10% chance of being offered a new contract after a disappointing six months plagued by injuries.
Pedro Obiang wants to leave West Ham and will granted his wish over the summer assuming his valuation is met by another club.
Carlos Sanchez who has a year remaining on his contract will be given a pre-season to prove his worth as squad player next season. Manuel Lanzini is returning from injury again this week and is likely to be given a contract extension over the summer.
Michail Antonio who was linked with a possible move away in the summer looks now likely to stay after a run in form. Jack Wilshere looks like staying a Hammer as the club will not attempt to buy him out of his contract as originally rumoured.
Up front, Lucas Perez valued between (£3-£4m) and Javier Hernandez valued between £10m -£12m are likely to leave this summer if offers come in.
Andy Carroll will be leaving in the summer when his contract expires and the striker faces an uphill struggle to be fit for next season with another club as he faces a second operation this week.
Marko Arnautovic now looks likely to stay with no club prepared to meet his release clause. Maxi Gomez remains West Ham’s top target over the summer with the club prepared to part with £40m for his services, Aleksandar Mitrović from Fulham is also a target but it is unlikely we can afford both with a £30m transfer budget together with the proceeds of all outbound sales.
